Stippling on my Mexico quilt by: Tammie

My Mexico Quilt
Pattern by: Eleanor Burns

MicroStippling taught by:  Leah Day

I have learned from Leah Day how to microstipple.
As you can see the puckers in my block, as I go on you will see how this way of quilting lays flat all the puckers nicely.

I have a large FMQ foot. This helps me to be able to see better than a small one.

In this picture you can visualize the size of my stitching I am doing. the sashing has large stipples.

When it is all done, dont forget to hide those stitches, never just clip them.

Then pull the string all the way through.

Give a nice little tug to make sure it is all through.

Then very carefully clip it. Making sure not to clip the material.

You will not be able to tell where it was that you stopped.

This block took me one hour to microstipple.

So when you decide to do quilting this way, know you are in for the long haul.

I have quilted some blocks with medium stippling.

But there are those that needed the microstippling to ease down the puckers.

This block has not been quilted yet. If you look close, you will see some puckering.

Now you can really see it. I will work inside of the yellow pinwheels first doing the loop stitch, then start stippling the outside borders.

I am going to make flowers like this one but with a smaller inside flower. There are 29 more flowers I need to hand sew. It will take me a long time, because I am not good at hand sewing.

I hope you have enjoyed my pictures and my links.

TaTa for now.....

I am having a hard time prioritizing everything that I Need to do and Want to do! And You dear friend, make me want to do more! :-) Sure wish we still lived in San Diego (LaMesa) at least we'd be closer than CA and IL! lol
